March is well known for being the month that “Comes in like a lion and out like a lamb,” but March is also Red Cross Month. It was given this title in 1943 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared it so as he called on all Americans asking them to, “Rededicate themselves to splendid aims and activities of the Red Cross.” Tomorrow, March 23, the students and faculty of Camden County College are being called upon to donate blood to the American Red Cross at the blood drive they are holding in the Connector Building from 9am until 3pm tomorrow.
In preparation for the blood drive it is preferred that you have an appointment so that the process can go quicker. To make an appointment you can go to the Office of Student Activities or call the Red Cross at 1-800-GiveLife. The Red Cross website says to make sure to hydrate yourself, wear comfortable clothes, bring a list of medications you might be on, have photo ID on you, and eat a good breakfast.
Giving one blood donation not only can save up to three lives, but makes you feel good about yourself. So while March goes out like a lamb this week, be sure to stop by the blood drive tomorrow and celebrate Red Cross Month.
