BLACKWOOD – Have you ever used the resources at the Camden County College library? Have you ever wondered what the library at CCC has to offer?
If so, librarian at CCC, Barbara Laynor, will host a focus group session on Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Community Center in room 202.
“The focus group session will provide an opportunity to gather student feedback about existing library services and will allow us to identify ideas for new services,” Laynor said in an e-mail interview. “What works? What doesn’t work? How is the library most useful? How can the library help students succeed at Camden County College?”
Students may find out about the focus group in several ways. In addition to teachers’ telling their classes about it, she said, “flyers about the session were distributed at the fall semester student barbecue, are available in the library and have been placed on bulletin boards around campus.”
All students at Camden County College should know about the resources the Blackwood campus has to offer. When a student knows how to use the library resources efficiently, they will have a well-rounded paper for a class with a great works cited page to display.
In a public relations class, the teacher is offering extra credit to students who attend the focus group session. That, combined with information from an e-mail from Laynor he read to the class, piqued the students’ interest.
Junior Christina Torres said she will attend the session.
“I think the library needs a lot of improvement and with a majority of students receiving financial aid and coming from not the best financial situations, most students are in need of a reliable library system for research and school work,” Torres said.
If you would like to attend the focus group session at 1 p.m. on Nov. 9 in the Community Center, room 202, e-mail librarian Barbara Laynor at blaynor@camdencc.edu to sign up.
