BLACKWOOD – Mainstage Center for the Arts will honor Anne Frank by performing the play based on her diary.

On Feb. 11 to 19, Mainstage will take over the newly renovated Dennis Flyer Theater on the Blackwood campus of Camden County College to perform the Tony Award-winning play The Diary of Anne Frank. The play tells the story of the Frank family as they hid from the Nazis in an attic during World War II.

“With the new exit to the college right off of Route 42, it’s very convenient to reach us,” said Ed Fiscella, MCA artistic director. MCA, an outside performing arts group that rents space at the college, hopes for a large turnout for the seven plays they will be staging throughout the year.

Audience members will experience Anne Frank’s spirit and optimism in the face of turmoil caused by the Nazis. MCA’s actors and actresses are professionals, which is an added appeal to CCC students.

“We are offering shows with a wide range of appeal, and we believe that audiences will appreciate the quality and value,” Fiscella said.

A season package deal of tickets costs $65.

“We have taken this leap because we can offer local audiences a reasonably priced enjoyable theater experience right here in Camden County College’s beautifully renovated Dennis Flyer Theater,” said Fiscella.
