BLACKWOOD – On Tuesday, April 26, the Center for Civic Responsibility hosted a session of a mini course called The “V” Word: Vampire in Literature and Pop Culture. This five-week course was scheduled to take place on Tuesdays from 6 to 9:30 p.m. led by CCC’s Professor Peter Woodworth. The goal was to inform people about vampire history, culture and place in the media.

The class had an array of people. Younger adults were there to share their interest in the subject while at the same time, older generations came to get a feel and understanding for what was big in the world today. One girl in the classroom was dressed like a vampire. She wore a long black cloak, fangs and had a goblet of water to top off the ensemble. The only flaw in her costume was the fact that she was out during the day.

The class went in depth on vampire history and worked its way up to vampires in today’s culture. The class discussed every movie involving vampires as well as every book and even included vampire folklore.
