It is again that time of the year. The weather is changing with the seasons, and it is beginning to get chilly outside. While some are safe and sound inside their warm houses cuddled up by the fire, others are struggling to find warmth and even struggling to obtain some food. It is that time of the year to help those in need and who are less fortunate through the annual Camden County College food drive.
From Nov. 1 to Dec. 9, all three campuses – Cherry Hill (Rohrer Center), Blackwood and Camden – will be collecting food for the South Jersey Food Bank in Pennsauken.
Student Life and Activities organize the event every year. They ask everyone to donate food, which should be non-perishable protein-enriched items, such as soups, peanut butter, vegetables, fruits and much more.
Past food drives at Camden County College have been successful in receiving many donations and assisting many people. Renee Pollard, secretary for Student Life and Activities, said, “This is one event that is very beneficial. It will benefit and affect a whole lot of people.”
Conducting the food drive around the holidays also allows those who donate to show holiday spirit.
If donating on the Blackwood campus, one should drop off food in the College Community Center Second Floor Lobby. If donating on the Cherry Hill campus (Rohrer Center), the food collection is in the lobby on the first floor. If donating to the Camden Campus, collections are handled in the Technology Center, which is on the first floor College Hall lobby.
Any amount of food donated is appreciated and needed.
The South Jersey Food Bank also accepts food donations at any time during the year. For more information, one can contact Student Life and Activities in Room 200 of the College Community Center on the Blackwood campus. The telephone number for the Student Life and Activities office is (856) 227-7200, ext. 4282.
