BLACKWOOD – The Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility at Camden County College will host a screening and discussion of the film “Adam” on Nov. 7 as part of a series of autism awareness events in October and November.
The event will be hosted by Parents of Autistic Children Together, a support group for parents of children with autism spectrum disorders and chapter of the Autism Society of America.
PACT states on its website, http://www.solvingthepuzzle.com, that its foremost goal is to act as “an information clearinghouse and resource center” for individuals and families contending with autism spectrum disorders and to do so by “providing information on legal rights, education programs and treatment options.”
According to the Center for Civic Leadership and Responsibility, the 2009 fictional film “Adam” illustrates the life of a young man with Asperger Syndrome. The discussion and social following the screening will be intended for individuals with autism, Asperger or pervasive development disorder as well as family and friends of those individuals.
The event will take place 6:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 7 in Civic Hall inside the Connector Building on the Blackwood campus. Registration for the event is available at http://www.camdencc.edu/civiccenter.
