CCC Journalism Program

Camden County College professor Elizabeth Greene has a special job. Greene is a hip hop dance instructor.

Greene began dancing at the age of 5 in her hometown of Jermyn, PA. She pursued her love of dance, and in 2006 graduated from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a bachelor’s degree in modern dance education.

Green’s career flourished while attending college. She explained while other college students participated in typical campus activities, she was busy at performances or rehearsals with the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders.

“During my first audition of the Eagles cheerleaders, I attended an open call audition where there were 400 women. I went through various rounds and cuts. I was selected for a spot on the final 38 squad member team. I stayed on the team from 2003 until I graduated college in 2006.”

For the past five years, Greene has choreographed for Woodland String Band of Philadelphia. In January of 2012 she assisted them to their first place division victory in the Mummers Parade.

Among her many accomplishments, Greene is a soloist of the Alchemy Dance Company which is a modern-based dance company. She performs in a show

called, “Rite of Passage.”

Greene also is a teacher at Kicks Academy of Dance in Glen Mills, PA and at Kathy Henkle School of Dance in Sewell.

Greene said, “I love what I do. It is so fulfilling to watch my students grow up. I enjoy being creative and helping others find their creativity. Dance is an exploration of life. There is no right or wrong. It’s all about having fun.”

Goukler said, “I really like Miss. Liz, she is so nice. She makes the class a lot of fun and she is an amazing dancer.”

Greene looks forward to meeting new students and teaching her passion to others. She said she is excited for the dance program to fully develop at CCC.
