BLACKWOOD – Camden County College’s annual art show was held in Lincoln Hall on Wednesday, April 25. The show featured some of the school’s best art work and art work shared by other colleges.

Several featured artists showed off their work at the gathering in Lincoln Hall. Among them was Patrick James, 27, of Moorestown. In his senior year of high school, James discovered he had a passion for art. After graduation, he went to Burlington County College and studied art.

“I felt at peace whenever I had a paint brush in my hand. It was like I was in a different world,” James stated.

After graduating from BCC, he attended the State University of New York, where he continued his study of art.

“I needed quick access to a big city and this is why I chose New York for my place of study, What better way to study my major in a place full of art,” he said.

The painting James showed at Camden County College is called “The imperfect view.” He painted it in 2007. The painting depicts a view of a city from far in the distance. He painted it while he was studying in New York.

“Being a professional painter isn’t easy and it takes a lot of patience,” he stated.

He said he decided to put art aside and use it as a hobby. He works as a server at the Cheesecake Factory in New York City.

The activities April 25 lasted two hours and showcased noteworthy paintings and perspectives of James and other artists, who shared the stories of their experiences in the art world and how they got their start. Food and beverages were served to visitors at the gala as they toured the art gallery.
