BLACKWOOD – The Camden County College Foundation has hosted a variety of events every year ranging from a golf outing to a casino night. Soon, after many requests, the foundation will host its first Designer Bag Bingo.
The night will include 10 games of bingo, a basket raffle, door prizes, 50/50 and refreshments. Event planners hope the event on Nov. 13 will produce good results for the college.

You can expect to find Michael Kors and Coach designer bags at the event. Also included in one of the raffle baskets will be a Dooney & Bourke and Vera Bradley bag. Various door prizes ranging from candles to lotion will be raffled off as well. Refreshments will include coffee and a chocolate fountain presented by Sodexo. Many volunteers and sponsors are helping to make this event possible.
Melissa Daly, Camden County College’s development associate and head coordinator for the bingo, said, “The foundation has never done an event like this before. It is new for us and is kind of exciting. Most events we host attract the same audience members – faculty and board members, but not this. Eighty percent of people coming to the bingo are people who have never participated in a foundation event before.”
Proceeds will benefit academic enhancements, unrestricted funds and scholarships for Camden County College. Myra Tryon, foundation secretary and bingo coordinator, said, “All of the money earned goes 100 percent back to the college and students, after expenses.”
Organizers are expecting participants to have a good time. “I like that people are getting excited to come. We expect them to enjoy themselves and it is exciting to win,” Tryon said.
Margaret Hamilton, vice president of academic affairs, plans to attend the bingo. “I expect to have a great time. I am bringing my family and we will be very competitive, but we will have a lot of fun playing the games,” Hamilton said.
The Designer Bag Bingo & Basket Raffle will take place 6:30 to 11 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Connector Building Atrium on the Camden County College Blackwood campus, 200 College Drive, Blackwood. If tickets are still available on Nov. 13, they may be purchased at the door for $50.
