BLACKWOOD – Rowan College of South Jersey-Cumberland defeated Camden County College in softball 9-4 on Saturday. The defeat brought CCC’s record to five wins and eight losses on the year.

After the game, CCC player Sa’Nai Sclafford talked about the loss and the season so far. “It is definitely challenging to lose so many games by large margins but it is all a learning experience when you lose and it’s all about how you can get better for the next game,” Sclafford said.

Despite the loss and the record, Sclafford said she enjoys playing. “I love this game so much and I have been playing since I was six years old and to play at the college level now is so much fun,” Sclafford said.

With the score 9-1 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the game looked to be over but the Cougars scored three runs to make the final score 9-4.

Assistant Coach Kelly Jackson addressed the struggles and benefits of drawing athletes to play on the junior college level. “No recruiting can be easy because kids these days are so caught up in attending big time programs but here at Camden County, you can save money and play softball here. then transfer to a four-year school.”
