A little known fact to many CCC students is that included in their tuition is a free membership to the fitness center located in the Papiano gymnasium. The fitness center is run by Dean Derman. Dean is the wellness technician here at CCC and oversees the center.

Dean Derman has worked here at CCC for the last 15 years. He heads the fitness center and has two assistants under him. All workers of the fitness center are certified by the American Council on Exercise and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

When a student first signs up, Dean Derman likes to analyze the student’s healthy history and set up a goal for each student. They try to focus on functional training, more than just strictly lifting weights.

“Here at the Fitness Center, we like to focus on more than just a pretty body,“ said Dean Derman.

All the equipment at the fitness center is fairly new and in great condition. Currently, there is only a small number of students who have signed up to use the fitness center. There are many benefits to signing up. It can be a great stress reliever between or after classes. They also have weight training classes for those who’s major may involve such activities.

To sign up to use the fitness center is easy. You can call the college at (856) 227-7200 ext. 4237. Or visit Fitness Room 135 and talk to a fitness center worker there. The fitness schedule is available at the Papiano gym or here at: http://www.camdencc.edu/departments/healthexercise/fitcenter.htm
