It has been a year and a half since Alphia Holloway started to work at one of the retail stores in Atlantic City, NJ. Her co-workers know her as a cheerful and responsible person. To the customers she is an attentive listener and a reliable sales helper. To others she is a good and sympathetic friend. But not many know her as a teacher. It was back in 1992 when she started to go to the Chelsea Baptist Church. Ali, or how everybody calls her Ali the Quiet 1, attended Bible school there and as the Sunday school teacher was retiring, he had asked if she wanted to teach. At first, Holloway was doubtful she could do it but she gave it a try, and she liked it. Holloway has already been teaching a Sunday school class for 13 years.
Holloway was born in Washington D.C. When she was about 8 years old her family moved to New Jersey. She could not imagine that one day she would become a teacher. Now she helps children to understand what is good and what is not. She teaches them to be thankful to others and to the Lord. She teaches them life lessons, something that children will not find in a regular school. Sometimes Holloway does small performances, or speeches, or even fashion shows with her students.

Every week Alphia Holloway teaches Sunday school morning classes. She never knows how many students will come. On Nov. 23 Caterin, Geraldo and Joe J visited her Bible lesson at the Chelsea Baptist Church, Atlantic City, NJ.

Nov. 23 was the first time Geraldo came to the Chelsea Baptist Church Sunday school class. One of the parts of the class is reading the Bible aloud. The boy was unfamiliar with the Bible. Holloway is showing him where to read.
