In case you hadn’t noticed, men everywhere, including students here at Camden County College have been growing out their mustaches and beards during the month of November. This trend of scruffy faces and overgrown facial hair is not just to keep men’s faces warm as the temperature drops, heading into winter. Rather, these men are all growing out beards and mustaches in order to support men’s cancer awareness. Getting people informed about the cause is the difficult part. Representatives from The American Cancer Society and Movember go out to events to promote events and hold fundraisers to raise money and support.
The Philadelphia Flyers, who hold promotion nights at many of their home games, held a Cancer Awareness Night to support the fight against cancer.
As people left their cars and made their way to the hockey game, they were stopped by this pink fellow who had been making rounds through the parking lots to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
As fans walked in through the front entrance they received a towel from the American Cancer Society. There were also information tables set up near the souvenir shop.
There was also a table promoting “Movember”, which is also known as “No Shave November.”
There were freebies and information cards to grab people’s attention and spread the word.
Obviously, it worked. Men everywhere have stopped shaving for the whole month of November to support cancer awareness. Now, the question is whether they will shave it all off now that the month is over.
