BLACKWOOD – Two representatives of the Rutgers nursing program at Camden County College held an information session Dec. 4 for students wanting to attend the satellite program.

About 40 people attended the session, which took place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Connector Building on the Blackwood campus. Similar sessions will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 8 and 22 in the Forum in the Connector Building.
Camden County College nursing students are preparing to transfer or take the next step to further their careers. The Dec. 4 session provided information to students who want to apply to the Rutgers nursing satellite program for the spring semester. The program requires a competitive science GPA for admission.
“This is a transfer program that has classes, clinical sites and anything a nurse needs to better them,” Robert Strayer, head director of the nursing program, said at the event. Strayer encouraged anyone who wants to know more to contact him.
Strayer teaches in a third-floor lab in the science building on the CCC Blackwood campus. In this nursing program, students can get a chance to work in one of many clinical sites. “These local hospitals are Cooper, Virtua, Kennedy and Vineland hospitals,” Strayer said.
Stated Mike Varano, who assisted Strayer at the session, “There were current students of the program that were guest speakers for the students.”
Two current students explained to attendees what they experienced during the course of the program.
