“There are already over 1,000 students registered to walk in graduation,” said Jackie Tenuto, CCC’s assistant dean of student development and support.
Each graduate may invite as many friends and family members as they want and no tickets will be needed for admission. Up to 4,000 audience members are expected at the ceremony.
Commencement normally takes place on a weekend day in May but this year college officials have decided to hold it on a weekday, when faculty members would already be on campus and in the hope this will encourage more students to attend.
Large tents will be set up so the ceremony will take place even if it rains.
“In my 28 years of being here it has only rained once at graduation,” said Tenuto.
