BLACKWOOD – Some students who work or want to work at the Camden County College radio station on the Blackwood campus say they wish the station would be open more hours. WDBK-FM’s hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, which can be inconvenient for students who take four to six classes back to back.
However, Assistant Dean of Students Jackie Tenuto, whose office supervises the station, said students have not made that request to her.
Robert Stevenson, 23, a theater major who was part of a show on the station, said he believed the schedule was fine and he never had scheduling issues while working there.
“When it comes to extending the hours of operation, that’s completely handled by CCC staff,” Stevenson said.
Several years ago, the college sought to sell the station’s broadcast license and move WDBK to an online-only format. The college received no bids to buy the license. Station Manager Chris Passanante referred questions to Tenuto, who said the prospect of selling the station has not been brought to her attention recently.
Instead, the station has been focusing on new events. They include a Halloween costume contest on Oct. 31 in the cafeteria and new shows every other Wednesday from November to the end of the year.
