BLACKWOOD – Camden County College clubs raised money for their activities Nov. 27 at a Giving Tuesday Club Raffle Fair.

About 15 clubs put together baskets filled with food, apparel and gifts and displayed the baskets in the Connecter Building Atrium. Visitors contributed money at each club’s table to obtain tickets and placed the tickets in containers in front of the basket they wanted to win. Visitors were also asked to donate goods, ranging from winter coats to food, children’s books, pet toys and toiletries.
Winning tickets were drawn at the end of the event.
The proceeds went to support the organizations’ efforts. The club that collected the most tickets – the Addictions Counseling Club with about 30 tickets – received a $150 bonus.
The fair was organized by the Camden County College Foundation and the Office of Student Life and Activities. It also included games such as a giant Connect 4, giant Jenga and corn hole.
Students and staff members participated in the raffle. Raffle baskets were donated by clubs and staff members. The most talked about donation was a new Xbox that was donated by an unidentified staff member.
Among the organizations that participated were the Animal Care Club, Healthy Eating Club, Muslim Club, Volleyball Club, Adopt-A-Family, book drive and food pantry.
“I believe this fair helps so many people is so many different ways. It shows students how many different clubs and associations are available to join and help out. Most of these kids have never heard of half of these clubs. It gets people involved by helping each other out because by donating they could be helping a fellow CCC student out and never know it,” said Anessa Quinonez, a member of the Animal Care Club.
