BLACKWOOD – The spring semester is nearing the finish line. To celebrate and relieve stress, Camden County College held its annual Spring Fling on April 23. The event took place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., perfect timing for most students to check it out between classes or stop by with friends during a break.

As you stepped outside to the Founder’s Courtyard, you were greeted by popular music from today and days gone by. The courtyard buzzed with energy as chatter and laughter filled the air alongside the music. Students and other guests were scattered all around, enjoying everything the Spring Fling had to offer, from vendors and school clubs to free food, games and bouncy houses.

Different vendors were lined up across the yard, each offering something unique. Some were school clubs, such as the drama club, who handed out pretzels to people who participated in their game. Others were volunteers helping register voters for the upcoming mayoral elections, giving students a chance to get involved in their community. University representatives were also present at the event to recruit and provide information for anyone interested in continuing their education. Chick-fil-A was also spotted, offering job opportunities for those who might be looking. The eye-catching carnival games and bouncy houses stood out the most, drawing in groups of students who wanted to relax and have fun for a bit. Both were open for guests to enjoy throughout the event, adding to the festival-like atmosphere.

Free food was another major activity that guests appreciated. Burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, funnel cake, fruit and a variety of other foods were available for students to enjoy. Beverages such as lemonade, iced tea and Red Bulls were also provided. Treats like ice cream, cotton candy and brownies quickly became favorites among those attending. Smaller snacks like candy and cookies were also given away by different vendors, all free of charge, making it easy for students to grab something while walking around.

Attendees all seemed to have enjoyed themselves, appreciating the fun distraction before finals season begins. Even the school mascot was spotted taking pictures and interacting with guests.

CCC student Sonia Campos shared, “I saw the counselors had a table and they were giving out journals and they were actually really sweet.”

Another student recalled a veterinary table that had bunnies, which drew a lot of attention from students passing by. Children could also be seen jumping and flipping in the bouncy houses, adding to the lively and fun environment.

Overall, the Spring Fling created a space where students could take a break from academic stress and simply enjoy being on campus. Whether they came for the food, the activities or just to hang out with friends, the event brought a sense of community and excitement to the college as the semester came closer to an end.
